Head Coach

Having started my netball career at primary school, I then joined Kardale Netball club in 1979 but later moved out of the area. Despite being mainly a football and basketball player, I have continued to play netball for 40 years and it is only apt that I finish my netball career where I started, at Kardale.

As a trained PE teacher I have always enjoyed coaching netball and now as a Level 2 coach and Level C umpire, I help run Netball Nippers (netball for 2 – 8 year olds) and coach, play and umpire for the club.

Senior Club Coach

Hi my name is Siobhan and I am a Level 2 Netball coach and PE Teacher who studied Sport and Exercise Science at Loughborough University.

I began playing Netball with St Albans Juniors when I was 10 under the watchful eye of Daphne Payne and continued to play till I was 16 having captained my age group. I then went onto be selected for Hertfordshire for three years in a row and moved to Hertford Hornets to play Senior Netball. At University I played for Loughborough in the then BUSA competition, and went out to Australia to join a team in Brisbane where I played, coached, and was an assistant coach for a state team.

I have recently returned from five years working at Harrow International School Beijing were I coached the senior Volleyball and Basketball teams, and led Netball within the School. I was twice the winner of the Coach of the Year at Harrow, and am now working at a school in Rickmansworth.

I am very much looking forward to returning to Kardale as a coach and excited for the season ahead.

Years 7 & 8 Youth Squad

I have played netball since the age of nine (initially for Kardale before my mum set up a localy team) and was playing senior netball from the age of 11/12.

As a senior I have played for a number of teams at a variety of levels and I currently play for and captain the Kardale Prem team.

When I was 20 I did some assistant coaching and really enjoyed it but unfortunately work got in the way and I was no longer able to carry on.

In 2014 I was approached by the club and asked if I would like to coach the years 3/4/5/6 I and in March 2015 I passed my Level 2 coaching award. The following September I coached the Year 7s and 8s and this year I am coaching the Year 3s all way up to Year 8s.

I also coach Back 2 Netball on a Wednesday night, as well as coaching at a local primary school and helping coach the Netball Nippers sessions.

Let’s just say I love my netball!

Years 2, 3 & 4

I grew up playing netball ‘across the border’ in Essex where I started umpiring and coaching at the age of 15. I gained my C award umpiring qualification and continued coaching while I was at school. Having taken a break from netball after university, I started playing socially through work which eventually brought me back to umpiring and coaching, this time in Hertfordshire. I joined Kardale in 2015 and completed my Level 2 Coaching Course in 2016. I really enjoy coaching youth teams, it’s great to be able to develop a passion for sport in others.

Years 7 & 8 Development

I have been interested and playing netball for over 10 years. I am level one netball coach and working towards B umpire. I love playing and umpiring at leagues in Hertfordshire. My passion is fitness and sport, I love running and playing a wide range of sports. I have played professional football in my youth, alongside club level hockey and county netball. Emma spends her spare time with her young family.

“I feel honoured to have the opportunity to share my love of netball with others. It is so rewarding to be a role model and watch children develop as they enjoy netball.”
